LIGHT UP WEDDING DRESS

AVENUE Q - LONG BAY THEATRE

COSTUME DESIGNER: ALLIE HILDEBRAN

DESIGNER ASKED FOR LEDS STRIPS TO BE HIDDEN UNDER THE SATIN OF A DRESS THAT COULD BE CONTROLLED BY A REMOTE WITH DIFFERENT SETTINGS

THE DESIGNER WANTED IT TO LOOK TACKY, SO LED STRIPS WERE DECIDED ON AND WERE SOLDERED TOGETHER AND WATERPROOFED FOR THE ACTORS’ AND THE LIGHTS’ SAFETY. THEY WERE THEN SEWN TO THE UNDERLINING OF THE DRESS.

THE DRESS HAD EIGHT MODES THAT WERE CONTROLLED BY ONE REMOTE

WORKED ON SEVERAL PRODUCTIONS, INCLUDING SEVERAL WORLD PREMIERS, A TOURING SHOW, AND TWO CONCERTS LOCATED IN THEIR TWO VENUES, THE COLONIAL AND THE UNICORN THEATRE (PICTURES SHOWN BELOW)

RECEIVED LADDER AND HARNESS TRAINING, AND LEARNED HOW TO SOLDER, PRACTICAL, AND LED SETUP AND MAINTENANCE. WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR A VARIETY OF ROLES FROM ASSISTANT DESIGNER, ASSISTANT HEAD ELECTRICIAN, SPOT-OP, BOARD PROGRAMMER, AND BOARD OPERATOR
